Colour: Lavender to blue purple and Natural Black
Logwood Purple Powdered Extract 10gms
Logwood is not particularly lightfast so keep away from bright sunlight
Logwood yields a rich, deep purple which was used as a base or “bottom” for the desirable dark purple and black colours of European fashion and aristocracy. If your water is neutral or acidic, a little soda ash in the dyebath will enrich the purple tone on wool and silk fibres.
A seductive, brilliant purple, Logwood originates from the Americas; its natural range includes Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Venezuela and the Guyanas. Logwood was known as the "spiny tree" by the Aztecs because of its thorny, contorted trunk, which they used as a weapon.
